President's Message

Thank you for your interest in Mainland Resources, Inc.
We launched in 2008 with a very timely and exciting opportunity based on an initial project. After acquiring about 2700 acres in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, we found our company at the heart of the now famous Haynesville shale play. This was not our original design, but we have certainly been able to capitalize on it.
Through 2009, with the help of our joint venture partner and operator, Petrohawk Energy, we successfully drilled and completed two of the highest gas producing wells to date in the entire fairway. Our third well is now online producing gas and our a fourth well was spud in February 2010.
In the first quarter of this year, we negotiated the sale of the Haynesville portion of our assets in DeSoto Parish for just over $27 million. Management believes it’s a prudent move that will help our company take the next step in becoming a significant company in the shale-gas sector.
This prospect was originally assembled as a Hosston/Cotton Valley play and our drilling has confirmed that there is significant pay in these zones, as well as the upper Bossier formation on our DeSoto Leasehold. The Company fully expects to leverage this “stacked pay” opportunity. We have retained a 100% working interest in these leases and have planned a development-drilling program as Operator covering these same leases in 2010.
Possibly even more important to the Company are the new possibilities that we are opening up in Eastern Louisiana and Western Mississippi. Beyond the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana, we have also discovered other opportunities whereby we have expanded our leasehold ownership, utilizing our expertise gained in the Haynesville Shale in NW Louisiana.
We are now well positioned to verify unconventional shale gas potential of what we believe is a further extension in Eastern Louisiana and Western Mississippi. We will also have the potential to evaluate potential conventional oil and gas bearing zones with the same wellbore. This would be a giant asset to Mainland if proven successful. We consider this opportunity to have very large potential and to be a relatively low-risk exploration well with incredible upside. We have currently leased over 17,000 net acres and plan to drill a well from the 2nd to 3rd quarter of 2010.
As I stated when I came aboard the Company, Mainland Resources, Inc. is a rare opportunity – the chance to start in an independent E&P company, approaching low risk ventures with tremendous upside potential, especially in Haynesville shale.
I sincerely hope that you will continue to follow our company’s progress as we move through this next stage of development.
